Topic: Tagging. Does the system need revising? Topic closed

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Far too often argument/wars/flares start up over. The tag what you see v.s. tag what you know ideology. Why not both? It would would help tremendously. I would like to get others opinions on this subject, and see if we can't talk the admins to make a little change to the polocies of e621. Express your opinion! Yeah, or neah. Please be civil. Thank you guys for settling this for me. You see I have a friend [BEEEEP] who dosen't prefer the current system. He uses the site all the time but is too embarrassed to make an acctual account. So he asked me to start this thread out of an argument we were having about tagging, and this served well as a counter argument. :)

We'd end up with a tag system that makes searching pointless, and impossible to do accurately.
So, no.

Edit: You won't get too much support here, the long time and regular users of this site largely support the TWYS system.
If you look at the "wars" or arguments the ones defending TWYS are the people who actually understand the rule, and the reasoning behind it.
The people who argue against tend to just not get the rule, and frequently refuse to listen to the explanations of it.

More like FA or IB, Pahael tends to suffer more from lack of tags.
IB and FA both let the artists basically tag how they want.
IB got a bit better when they allowed user suggested tags, but the artists can still remove those so it's still pretty bad.

It ruins blacklists too, I have stories blacklisted on IB because I have no interest in them, but they have to be tagged as "story" to be able to blacklist them.
I've run into 2 different "artists" who remove the story tag on their stories, not sure why.
I ended up having to blacklist by artist, not the best method of blacklisting.

Okay Im starting with a no here, but what are you suggesting we do, eh?
P.S. you sound like the type of person who's like "hey this communism thing sounds quite swell and as long as everyone's honest and fair this will work" and newsflash, this is the internet, and shits going to happen, people are going to get pissy, and tags are going to be warred upon. There is literally nothing that would stop this other than to only allow certain people to tag, and that would ruin the whole thing, and it would become an even bigger shitstorm than it already is....

There is only one thing that could make this work, which is that you have two sets of tags and can search for either one independently, otherwise you'll destroy pretty much the complete point of the search function.

Well, if your friend Beeep doesn't have an account here, then s/he has no say in how things work, right?

Yes exactly the point I made to him.

But he is very stubborn... He wouldn't even let me write the original body of the thread. He wrote it./:|

Then take it upon yourself and tell him to go away. Or something along those lines.

It's fine he'll be back. They always come back to e621 eventually.:/

He will get over it.

To end up like FA or IB we would also need to remove aliases and implications. So, for example, instead of one search for gryphon you would need search for gryphon, griffon, griffin, and probably some other things.
