Topic: will staff reverse a deletion if it was by mistake?

Posted under General

a post of a short animation that i made a couple/few days ago got deleted after about 2 days of not being verified. the one who deleted it said that it was a reupload of one that was previously deleted for not meeting the minimum quality standards, but that one had no lighting & background props. the one that was more recently deleted did have lighting & background props

it both wasn't the previously-deleted one like the staff member claimed it to be, and it also should've met minimum quality standards going off of other 3D posts that i saw were approved on the site. messaged them about it already with no response for about a day so far

will deletions generally be reversed in situations like this? and if so, is there any better way to contact staff? i can also try linking the deleted posts, and the approved 3D post i assumed was an example of meeting the minimum quality standards

The last one was deleted because it did not meet minimum artistic quality standards.
The reupload basically just added lighting & background props, but still does not meet minimum artistic quality standards.

You can read topic #23578 for more info.

In normal cases, you must approach the janitor responsible for the deletion of your post and respectfully contest the deletion with the reasons you already mentioned.
If you are still not satisfied with the response and want a second opinion, then you may approach the lead admin @NotMeNotYou to air your grievances.

However, in this case, the janitor responsible for the deletion of your posts, @Mairo, is not accepting any direct messages about post approval/deletion due to "reasons" you can find under their profile.
Therefore, you need to approach the lead admin directly if you want to contest the deletion.

i'm aware that Mairo deleted the one with no lighting or background props, though IIRC "Rainbow_Dash" is the one who deleted the newer one due to claiming that it was a reupload of the previous one that Mairo deleted. i'm assuming that Rainbow_Dash took a quick look at it and assumed it was the same thing without checking, then deleted it while giving the same reason Mairo had for deleting the last one, instead of Mairo deleting the new one themself

https://e621.net/posts/4257833 is also the post that i was going off of for minimum 3D quality standards. the background isn't as detailed but i was assuming that mine being animated would make it considered to be at or slightly above the quality of that one

if Rainbow_Dash was the one who deleted the newer one, should i still approach the lead admin?

Those are... not the right people to contact.

The janitor @auto moderator is literally just a bot that dishes out mod actions and automatically deletes unapproved posts that were not approved within 30 days.
The admin @Rainbow Dash is the person responsible for user enforcement. They should respond to an appeal in regards to your record, but not to your post deletion.

contacted automod on accident before realizing that i wasn't sending a message to a real person. i still believe Rainbow_Dash was the one to delete the newer post while copying the reason Mairo had for deleting the older one, but maybe i'm wrong

Check the deletion reason and who deleted it on post #5223407.
The janitor @Mairo deleted it and flagged it as a reupload, which the admin @Rainbow_Dash only stepped in to take disciplinary action.

You can approach the lead admin @NotMeNotYou to contest both the deletion and the neutral record.

makes sense, assumed Rainbow_Dash did both the deletion and the neutral record around the same time. i'll try contacting NotMeNotYou. same message system that i tried to contact Rainbow_Dash on, right?
