Topic: How to tag characters with anonymous owners?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

post #5223918 depicts a fan character for the webcomic Normalsville named Gertrude. It has the character tags gertrude (almost definitely wrong) and gertrude_(normalsville) which doesn't seem correct to me because she's not an official character. This character is owned by an anonymous person who seems to wish to remain anonymous. How should we tag her in this situation?

I think that generally _oc is appended to the disambiguator if there's no better choice. so, like, gertrude_(normalsville_oc), then?

Probably, yeah. Thanks.

I believe this is someone's obsessive self-insert of their character into a webcomic that has never acknowledged their presence.
In that case, I wouldn't be adding normalsville in any part of their character tag. The copyright tag should also be removed from their fanarts unless it includes actual characters from the webcomic.

Fan characters aren't tagged with the copyright?

By themselves, no. You don't tag the copyright tag just because your headcanon wants it to the part of the franchise/copyright.
With actual characters from the series, then yes.

By themselves, sure. That's why golden brooch doesn't/no longer implies mlp or fan character

The only exception to this is when they are depicted as an actual fan_character; e.g., as an earth_pony (which implies my_little_pony).
See topic #46943 for more info.

However, in this case with normalsville, there is no room for fan characters since all characters from the webcomic are depicted as generic anthros.
