Topic: Tag alias: permanent_edging -> permanent_orgasm_denial

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I don't have time to look through the posts at the moment, but I'm guessing permanent_orgasm_denial has the same problem as permanent_chastity_device: usually being tagged purely on external knowledge...?

Anyways, permanent_edging sounds like permanent_orgasm_denial combined with permanent_chastity_device + unchastity or maybe just magical_stimulation due to a curse or something? Though, maybe someone can be "permanently edged" and also be allowed an occasional orgasm? I'm not sure we should even touch this, since permanent_edging isn't tagged at all...

permanent_orgasm_denial sounds too TWYK-y to me. Given a single image, or a short video, how do you differentiate a normal or prolonged denial vs a permanent one? We can't see what happens afterward, so no way to see if it's truly permanent.

Often there's text and dialogue that adds context. But I don't know if text stuff counts for tagging purposes, cause while it adds context, it's not seen.

Text isn't terribly reliable, since it's too open to interpretation (especially when translating other languages) and there's nothing to say the text is true (characters can lie or be mistaken, things get retconned). Certain tags can refer to the text itself (e.g. profanity for the word fuck), but the meaning of text is treated as external information. Even if that wasn't the case, for multi-page sequences it could also only apply to the page it appears in, so such a tag would only apply to pages that mention it, which would either limit its usefulness or it would be tagged when it shouldn't be.

This might be a little off-topic, but does that mean "permanent" tags should imply "long-term"? If they can't be told apart, why are there two tags? (Genuine question.)

Maybe? These tags are messy and often tagged based on TWYK... In theory, "long term" might be something like "a start and end date are marked on a nearby calendar, and the dates are 3 weeks apart", and "permanent" might be "the chastity device's key hole is glued shut" (IRL, there would of course be ways out of this predicament, but anyways...). Eventual release versus "being locked is just your life now" are different dynamics, but "permanent" still is a "long duration", so implications might make sense. These tags are so messy, I'm a bit hesitant to do anything with them alias/implication-wise.
