Topic: Wtf is with some of the recent aliases? (multiple girls, multiple boys, etc. -> female, male)

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Apologies if this isn't the right forum, I wasn't sure if I should post this here or in the tag alias/implication suggestions forum.

There have been some definitely questionable alias choices in the past, but what the hell?
Tags for multiple characters (multiple_girls, multiple_boys, 2girls, 2boys, etc.) have now been aliased to their general unspecific tag (e.g. male and female). Why?? This makes absolutely no sense. Now you can't actually search for posts with multiple characters outside of generic tags that don't let you curate what you want.

I thought the point of aliasing was to cut down on tags by lumping ones together that mean literally the same thing, or at least close enough? Why alias a specific tag to a nonspecific one?

there's really got to be a better way to display AIBUR votes than just in a cloud of random thumbs

Numbers which you can then expand into a list of names (or open up a new page with a list of all votes) would likely be much more useful, since counting the votes on popular requests is extremely painful

I only just noticed these the other day, and I swear that there was a point at which tags like "multiple_females" were searchable and not aliased.

Danbooru uses it, and it's necessary there because that site's got a tag search limit of 2 which makes complex searches impossible without more complex tags, and pretty much every other booru has it because they just copy what Danbooru has directly or indirectly.

so you might be mixing up some other booru with e6.
