I have no hope left in my body. Other then a VPN is there anything else I'd need? Might as well prepare with how these past few days have been going.

In theory a good VPN is all you need, if you're worried about it not being enough. Encryption isn't something that can be effectively outlawed, and if it's enough to get around China and Russia, it'll be enough to sidestep the US. Crazy that we have to compare them now, but here we are.

I'd also recommend switching to open source software where available, like Firefox. You probably don't need to ditch Windows for Linux though. At least not yet. Firefox will likely also start getting plugins/extensions that can help.

Ironically you should probably avoid TOR and the Dark Web. The FBI's had a backdoor since it began.
