Topic: character wiki pages

is there any guide to what information should be included or omitted from character wiki pages? especially for furry characters that are OC's/ not part of official IP's.

If you're the owner of an OC and want to make your own wiki page for them, there's no requirements or guidelines on how to make a good wiki page, but I'd start with embedding a good reference image of them, using the

thumb #[post ID]

markup. For example, on the wiki page for tulin (tloz), there's a picture of him at the top. That way, people have a good idea of what your character looks like, and the rest of the wiki page can just describe the details of their appearance, setting, and/or background which, if you're the character owner, you can go nuts on.

Alternatively, you can follow the wiki style guide which has the following tips:

  • Avoid using external links (e.g., wikipedia.org), and never link them within the text. Artist galleries will usually be the most relevant here.
  • Keep it short and concise. A sentence or two is usually more than enough to tag by.
  • Don't link to the tags page with {{curly_brackets}}, use [[square_brackets]] to link to other wikis instead.

Wiki pages are meant to be guides on how to tag certain things, so really only the basic information is necessary, a physical/visual description of your character usually suffices. But, again, nothing is really stopping you from getting more creative, within reason. Don't include a million links and don't write so much that the page gets a scrollbar on a standard sized monitor.
