Has something about the way rank is calculated changed in the past month? It feels like quality and scores/fav counts of images on the Hot page has been lower.
Are newly submitted images are being favored more strongly over high score ones now? It feels like I consistently have to go to the popular by day pages now to see the higher quality images of even the current day, where before I felt like I could just check the Hot page each day to get a pretty good aggregation of the last day or two of content, especially in the mornings where the popular by day page doesn't have as much content.
