Topic: I love blacklist

Posted under General

I was flipping through images recently and had something of a brain-fart, wondering why only males were showing up in my list of searches. Now, you might think 'so what?' as this sounds really mundane.

But it isn't.

This is the magic of blacklist: It's so good at being able to isolate the site's content and cater ONLY to the things you like you completely forget it's even there and just enjoy things. It's only when you become aware of how WELL it's working that you even notice it, rather than when it isn't. Again this sounds really mundane, but here's another thing I like about blacklist, and this is particular to e621:

This is the only furry artsite with a working content filter. Go ahead and flip through any other and you are going to see much more content that you don't care to see, simply because they have no filter, it doesn't work properly, or because users don't make the effort to tag content correctly.

Anyway, I rarely praise things, e621, so count this blessing. But don't get a big head about it. I still hate everything else about this site, but my god you're doing one thing right at least!

Awesome, glad you know how to work the black list! Give your love to aurali, shes the one who made it for us. Oh and, give us your soul.

Anyway, I rarely praise things, e621...(etc)

If it weren't for that last paragraph, I would nominate this as the Official Blacklist Appreciation Thread.

Did you know you can combine multiple tags on one line to filter out images that contain all of those tags (and not just some of them)?

Did you know you can add a minus sign before tags on your blacklist to filter out images that don't contain those tags?

Sadly, once upon a time I checked for other operators in the blacklist, and they didn't work. But their effect can be emulated with the existing functionality anyways!

The blacklist is awesome!

Aurali did not make the site's blacklist :P It's been a part of Danbooru since forever ago. What Aurali IS doing though is improving how the site processes the blacklist, so that you always see the maximum amount of art you can on a page, rather than seeing the maximum amount minus the blacklisted art.

And glad you're appreciating the blacklist and the huge effort e621's users and mods put into tagging, JustFrame.

It is one of the best filtering services on earth :)
