I noticed a number of posts that were either inspired by proper art, or drawn in such a way to mimic certain famous artists.

These posts are usually either tagged with the artist as the contributer (artist:*) (post #28917, post #145702), sometimes tagged as a character (post #83121) , incorrectly (post #62555), or not tagged at all (post #64699, post #197771)

How about a tag that identifies the style the artist's painted in, without actually crediting them as the one who drew it?

Something like artist_(style)

So if someone were to tag post #14759 (Creation of Adam) he/she'd use leonardo_da_vinci_(style)

What color would the tag be, artist per say?

I thought that was a Michelangelo.

Yes it is. Good on ya, but in all seriousness what type of tag do you suggest that be?

In cases where the inspiration is obvious, it's hard to misuse a tag like this. But could it be abused in situations where AverageJoeUser decides, "Hey, this guy's work looks like AverageJoeArtist!" And then the mods end up settling long arguments between posters debating god-knows-what about why they disagree?

Just a thought—it's a good idea, but seems ripe for misuse!

Hm, how about leaving it as a general tag? Since the artist who influenced the style didn't directly create the image it's tagged with
Also,if kept as a gentag, it makes finding collaborations easier (arttags:>1)
But I'm neutral on it,regardless

You make a very good point there Dobies
How about only using the tag when

• It's directly based of a famous piece of work; like The Creation of Adam (by Michelangelo), Last Supper, Birth of Venus, etc.
• The artist directly stated that the piece was influenced by the artist (such as in post #215527)

General tag works for me. As for it being abused, well anything here will get some abuse now and again but I don't see this one as inciting an over the top amount
