Best quality versus higher compression sample size. With twitter, always take orig version to avoid all possible issues, if it's large, 4096x4096, etc. do not take those.

Also please source and try to prefer direct URL uploading over file upload. This way these things are more apparent immidiately as evidence is present and your uploads and upload count isn't suddenly nuked after couple weeks of doing constant mistakes.

Re-uploading also does nuke the old posts along with their scores and comments, which I've been quite fond of. People don't leave the same comments and or visit the pictures always twice so it makes them look less appreciated to me at least. :c

What lead into this situation is that you are posting these on two places: furaffinity and twitter.

Furaffinity will automatically downscale and JPG compress the content you upload in there if it's over 1280px unless you reupload it immidiately after uploading it initially (this is actually bug in furaffinity, but instead of fixing this or making it proper feature when uploading, they now advertise it on their upload page as something you can do...) or alternatively downscale it manually with better interpolation to 1280px dimension max. Also furaffinity lies about filetypes, this post in furaffinity is named 1543961041.loimu_1_11_2f.png, but it does have JPG artifacts and checking files header says it's .jpg. e621 fixes this, so post #1726167 was also JPG. There's reasons why I want that site to pretty much die and it's mostly down to this that they primarily host artwork, then proceed to actively destroy the artwork.

Twitter if the image is over 900px or uses more than 256 colors it gets JPG compressed, but it will keep original resolution, so unless furaffinity copy was reuploaded, twitter is superior quality almost always (and in there you still have to remember to manually get the proper sample). At least with twitter this is more understandable because they are primarily hosting memes and photos and need to do it fast rather than accurately.

However we still have the problem of neither of these posts actually being original quality, furaffinity one is OK and both downscaled and compressed, twitter is better and compressed, neither are close to the original PNG file. So we now have this thing three times already and it's still nowhere near great file quality.

Because I do also hate this because of this, everyone here is working their hardest to ensure we are hosting and archiving best copy possible, but almost every single website destroys the files and has their own quirks (the reason why I made that wiki page above to begin with to lessen these situations and booruhitomi kindly keeping things up to date) and even still we are left with these situations.

Doing the reupload on furaffinity or even simply directly uploading content here are best ways to ensure that they aren't being replaced year down the line. Also if it helps at all, I have always been in favor of favorites instead of votes: favorites mean that someone really loves the image instead of just liking it, also that disregards downvotes which can be for silly things like disliking it's feral for example. Also just click on that (X more) with Favorited by: on left side panel and how that doesn't look amazing when scrolling down :p

Also sorry for the wall of text, like yeah, we do lack the features to replace files on posts and ability to move votes and comments with post replacement, but if we did not have sites like furaffinity and twitter, we would need those far less to begin with.
