This kid and his Pikachu lamp are in the middle of the ocean and has to battle that thing on a dinky little raft. Perhaps you should be less concerned about Pokéballs, and a bit more concerned about whether this trainer remembered to save their progress before the encounter... >_>

If you're like me, you don't save for a few hours, and then regret it when you die. This is why checkpoints at poke' centers are nice.

If that was me, I wouldn't. I would leave my fate up to the larger, but gentle creature that I am facing.
