Depends on your level, ammo type, perks and guns skill.

A lvl 25 character with 100 guns skill, cowboy and hunter perks, sporting the Mysterious Magnum loaded with Semi Wadcutter rounds would make short work out of a normal deathclaw.

Did something like this in fallout 3. Then again I was using the flamethrower and he was charging at me from the bottom of a hill so yeah maybe not so similar.

The first Deathclaw I saw was no match for my Anti-Materiel rifle. I was on my first Evil Karma run of the season and had just finished ransacking the Gunrunners' factory.
Stole all their AM rifles, literally the only weapons I had in my/ED-E's inventory because they were so fucking heavy.

I did it with a 9mm with hp rounds it was so funny I only had a missile launcher and a 9mm hand gun and I was at the one of the Deathclaw nest in Fallout New Vegas the one on the mojave river and had run out of missile's when there was only two left one with maybe #10 and the over with maybe #80 or #90 the 1st was esey the 2ed was luck with a critical hit to the head lol

Y'all should try clearing the quarry by Sloan with nothing but level 75 unarmed, Ranger Takedown,and some boxing tape. At level 7, it only took me... Actually, I lost count of the number of tries it took, but y'all should try it anyway. Great learning experience!

The "And Stay Back" perk with Riot Shotgun makes every encounter laughably easy.
