  • A manual transmission in what looks like a late 80’s Toyota clone? Not bad. Good to teach folks to drive on a stick shift first. You can drive stick, you can drive anything.

If you don't know how to start a manual you probably shouldn't drive one. She probably going to destroy the clutch

Probably do what I do all the time, put it in neutral so I don't have to press the clutch pedal down while cranking.

Yes, I get totally confused when I get behind the wheel of a modern~ish car that has a cranking interlock switch on the clutch pedal.

What's the point? You will need to clutch anyway afterward

If you take your driving test in Sweden with an autobox thats whar you are stuck with unless you pass a new test with a manual.
It will even be written on the license under conditions: "Får endast framföra automatväxlade fordon"/ "Automatic vehicles only"

So almost everyone here will learn and pass the test with a manual then you have no restrictions.

Also my starting procedure: Clutch down, gear lever into neutral (that way the starter only has to turn the engine over not enigine+gears, anything to reduce the load on the starter) then turn the key.
