MemberReminds me of the scene in Star Trek 2009 where Sulu forgot the Enterprise's "parking brake" on.

MemberA manual transmission in what looks like a late 80’s Toyota clone? Not bad. Good to teach folks to drive on a stick shift first. You can drive stick, you can drive anything.

MemberProbably do what I do all the time, put it in neutral so I don't have to press the clutch pedal down while cranking.
Yes, I get totally confused when I get behind the wheel of a modern~ish car that has a cranking interlock switch on the clutch pedal.

MemberIf you take your driving test in Sweden with an autobox thats whar you are stuck with unless you pass a new test with a manual.
It will even be written on the license under conditions: "Får endast framföra automatväxlade fordon"/ "Automatic vehicles only"
So almost everyone here will learn and pass the test with a manual then you have no restrictions.
Also my starting procedure: Clutch down, gear lever into neutral (that way the starter only has to turn the engine over not enigine+gears, anything to reduce the load on the starter) then turn the key.
