actually vets check for a foals condition by going in through the anus because if they went in through the vagina it could cause the mares body to abort the pregnancy if you look it up sometimes it is easy for that to happen

Dystocia risk for mares carrying twins is so high that if this is detected before 30 days from conception, then one of the embryos is crushed by the vet. After this time some other methods can be used to make a singleton pregnancy but often it might be best to terminate them both for best chance of further foals from the mare.
