Don't put the blame on Sunny, Twilight. She had no choice, no say on the matter. She did exactly what the writers told her to do.

A shame really, it could have been a decent show if the writers gave even half a F about the previous generation's lore. The vague references here and there didn't really help and served mostly as filler.
