Does a khopesh count as a polearm? It's more similar to an axe in wieldiness and weight distribution.

Khopesh is a sword. It actually did evolve from battle axes, but was never considered as such. For it being a polearm, you'd need to have a long shaft attached to the blade part, instead of a normal grip.
