An act of intimacy in which characters are in close, physical contact with each other. The act most commonly serves as a form of affection or comfort for the characters engaged in the action. Cuddling generally involves two characters, but may incorporate more. Cuddling can be performed with or without clothes on.
The act of cuddling can be best compared to the act of hugging (see hug). While hugging and cuddling are similar, they are not the same action. Hugging involves the use of the arms to encircle the other's torso; the characters are only physically touching on the torso, arms, hands, and possibly head. Cuddling is more of a full-body action in which most of the body comes into contact with the other (this includes the legs and head). Hugging is also performed while standing and cuddling is performed when sitting or lying.
