McDonald's (also called McD or Macca's) is an American hamburger and fast food restaurant chain. It was founded in 1940 as a barbecue restaurant operated by Richard and Maurice McDonald. It was later purchased and franchised by businessman Ray Kroc beginning from the 1950s, turning it into the corporate giant that it is today. Their Golden Arches logo is globally recognized.
