This is a misleading term. A sock cannot be footless. The footless equivalent to a sock is known as a leg_sleeve or more specifically leg warmers. However, you may be looking for a variant of the theme instead.

• stirrup_socks - A style of sock that features a strip of fabric looped under the foot, leaving part of the heel and most of the foot exposed. Other similarly styled legwear fall under their respective tags, based under stirrup_legwear.
• toeless_socks - A style of sock that leaves the toes exposed, but still covers some part of the foot. This includes designs that resemble stirrup socks, but feature a closed heel instead. The design should be considered a leg warmer if it covers no more than the ankle. Other similarly styled legwear fall under their respective tags, based under toeless_legwear.

Any other type of footless legwear should not use this tag and instead use their respective tags based under footless_legwear.

• stockings - Stockings are not socks, and should not be tagged as socks. Use either leg_warmers or footless_stockings instead for any footless legwear that does not reach the waist area.
