Gieeg, or Geeg, is the name given to the species of aliens that Giegue, the main antagonist of MOTHER 1/EarthBound Beginnings, is part of. Even though Giegue is the only one of his kind to make a full appearance in the games, the race's existence is implied in MOTHER's backstory which has been expanded upon in fan-projects, such as Mother: Cognitive Dissonance.
They have a humanoid body shape, with generally tall and slim proportions, while their faces are commonly depicted as more animal-like, sporting a distinct snout. Their most distinguishable features are their tapered, long tails and a pair of pointy horn-/ear-like extensions on top of their heads. The shape and alignment of the latter vary from one individual to another and they are sometimes depicted with small, curled up antennae at the tip. Most Gieegs have white skin and no hair or fur. Their eyes can have many different colors and are either depicted in one solid color, often with a faint pupil, or with black scleras and thin irises.
The exact origin of the species is uncertain, though it seems to be of extrasolar nature, judging by the size of Giegue's mothership. As seen by their experiments on other lifeforms, their sense of curiosity and ambition are very similar to that of humans, however, compared to them, Gieegs are more stoic, preferring to keep emotions shallow and struggling with feeling empathy. They are also very potent PSI-users and are often seen communicating via telepathy. In fact, almost all of the PSI on Earth can be traced back to their technology.
