Aries, the Ram, is the first sign of the Western Zodiac. This sign is based on Chrysomallus, the flying ram that provided the Golden Fleece that Jason and his Argonauts quested for.

This tag should be used for things directly concerning Aries. Typically, this will be personifications of Aries: A goat or sheep, perhaps with some fire or warlike notes, due to the linguistic similarities to Ares the Greek god of War, though the two are distinct and different.

By the tropical zodiac, Aries begins on the date of the northern vernal equinox, which is typically around March 21st. However, the sidereal zodiac starts when the sun begins to transit Aries. These dates once lined up, however, due to polar drift over several thousands of years, these dates have drifted apart.

The IAU (International Astronomical Union) dates reflect recently calculated dates based entirely off of the actual observable limits of the constellations in the sky.
