Crying, also called sobbing, wailing, weeping, whimpering, bawling, blubbering and QQ-ing, is shedding tears as a response to an emotional state in humans. The act of crying has been defined as "a complex secretomotor phenomenon characterized by the shedding of tears from the lacrimal apparatus, without any irritation of the ocular structures". The medical term for this is to lacrimate, which also refers to non-emotional shedding of "tears".
Emotions
Sadness or depression is the most common emotion leading to crying, but crying can occur in some other emotions. Such as overwhelming joy, heartbreak, anger, being scared/frightened, fear/anxiety, guilt/remorse, despair, or other equivalent emotions.
Non-emotion
Crying may also sometimes happen when anyone is cutting up onions.
