aburaage
Aburaage (or sometimes aburage) is a Japanese dish made by deep-frying thin slices of tofu. It is associated with foxes in Japanese folklore; they are said to be very fond of it. It is commonly served in or alongside udon noodle soup, this dish is called kitsune (fox) udon. It can also be cut into pita-like pockets and stuffed (this is called inarizushi.)
