reverse countershading
post #2496824 post #28300 post #1155453
The opposite of countershading, where the usually countershaded areas are noticeably darker than the rest, or where the back has large regions of lighter fur or scales. In nature this has the effect of making the animal stand out on most backgrounds, and many believe this serves as a warning coloration to potential predators, which might prefer to avoid these animals.
A defining trait of skunks and honey badgers.
