A swordstaff (svärdstav) is a Scandinavian cutting and piercing polearm consisting of a long shaft, a crossguard, and a double-edged sword blade. It gives off the appearance of a sword attached on top of a pole.

Similar Weapons

• In China similar weapon equivalents exist called the pi (鈹) and the sha (鎩) with the latter possessing a bat wing-like hilt and have the blade sheathed with a scabbard when not in use.
• In fantasy swordstaves often takes the form of a literal magic staff with a sword blade on one end and a staff head on the other. Other times it's a broadsword or even a greatsword as a polearm.
