Yellow (RGB hex: #FFFF00) is one of the three subtractive primary colors, and is light with a frequency of 508–526 THz. It can be found on the color wheel in between red and green. Olive (RGB hex: #008080) is what one would call dark yellow. Not magenta or cyan.

Very light shades of yellow are known as cream. Desaturated light shades of yellow are known as buff or beige. Redder shades of yellow are called amber or gold, while greener shades are called chartreuse. Darker shades of yellow is called olive if darkened with black, and mustard or ochre if darkened with brown.
