Character: astarion (baldur's gate)
Astarion Ancunín, Epithet: The Pale Elf is one of the seven origin characters in Baldur's Gate 3.
He is a male high-elf, and a former magistrate for the eponymous city of Baldur's Gate. It is revealed very early in the game, that Astarion is in fact a vampire. Specifically, a vampire spawn. He distinguishes this fact given that he has never tasted the blood of another vampire and therefore does not have the full repertoire of vampire abilities. However, do to the inciting incident involving a Mind Flayer parasite being inserted behind his right eye, Astarion has been partially freed of certain curses associated with vampirism such as being unable to enter homes without being invited first or walking around in broad daylight. Astarion has apparently been a vampire for over 200 years which is actually considered fairly young by elf standards. Still, he is compelled to drink the blood of other living things to sustain himself.
By default, Astarion is a Rogue with proficiency in light weapons and armor and a master of stealth, deception, lockpicking, and pickpocketing.
Astarion is has the appearance of a High-Elf with a medium build, albinism, and sharp yet elegant features. He has pallid skin with dark circles and bags under his crimson eyes, as well as smile lines around his mouth and a faint beauty mark on his right cheek. He also has jaw-length, curly silver hair styled with pomade and curls around his long pointed ears. He has a bite-mark scar on the right side of his neck. When it comes to clothes, Astarion's choice in attire is usually on the fancier side, wearing an elaborate doublet, leather chaps and embroidered leather shoes when you recruit him.
