Lara Shepard is the muscle of United Federation's Alpha Squad: The Breacher. She was born and raised in a town called Goldcrest which is in the province of Novas (probably Nova Scotia) by her mom and dad, along with 7 other siblings: Colin Shepard, Sarah Shepard, Andrew Shepard, Oliva Shepard, Amy Shepard, Jami Shepard, and Maverick Shepard. While growing up, she met Amber Hellfire and they quickly became friends. During high school, she was quite popular and known for flirting with boys, which did cause some trouble for her however. It even made her and Amber hate each other.

However, everything changed when one day, she found out that her oldest brother, Maverick was killed by a Cerberus squad. This heartbreak and tragedy made her hate humans and inspired her to join the United Federation and eventually, she and Amber met Mika Blackclaw, Yuki Snow, Lupa Marble, Adder Ashfield, and Ashley Volker and despite their disputes, they became a family. One day, her perception on humans changed when she met Chris. At first she despised him, but during a mission at Python's villa, he saved her life from Python's grenade belt, though it did caused her to get a scar. After fighting the F.I.A. for a month, she and the others saved him from outside Iron Jaw, she became interested in him, wanting to become friends with him because she believes Chris is the best chance they have of uniting humans and anthros together, especially after finding out what the F.I.A. have been doing to the captured humans.

The friendship turned to attraction when she walked in on Chris walking out of the shower. She saw his physique and his big "package". Sometime after that, her feelings for Chris grew more when they held hands while Chris was unconscious after Lupa almost killed him, much to Adder's jealousy and suspicion. She confided to Chris about her family, her brother's death, and they both apologize to each other for what their respective kind did to one another. She confided to Amber that she has feelings for a new U.F. soldier, which was really Chris.

After the battle at Ice port, Amber kissed her and confessed her feelings to Lara, and they became a couple. Unbeknownst to Lara, Amber mostly did this to ensure Chris doesn't confess his feelings for Lara ever. This caused Chris to act out in coldness and anger to Lara, much to her confusion and hurt. One day, everything changed between her and Chris when they spent one day in the city of New Valor (Washington D.C.) and partied. Lara was sad and bored because the one person she likes doesn't want to hang out with her.

Later, she was confronted by Damian and his friends because she and Amber skipped out on their date because of work. She tried to explain but Damian kept yelling and ridiculing her, which caused her to cry. That's when Chris stepped in and defended Lara by kicking Damian in the nuts and smashing his head on a table, knocking some of his teeth out. This caused a brawl which got Chris, Damian, and the others kicked out. Lara pleaded with Mac, one of the bouncers, to let him back in but he refused.

This caused Lara to leave as well and she went outside to find Chris but she couldn't see him anywhere. Later, she went back to the apartment, which surprised Chris, causing Lara to stop and look at him. After sitting down on the couch, Chris tried to apologize to Lara for ruining their night but Lara told him not to and she apologizes for being an ugly brute and not being beautiful and curvy like Adder and Yuki. Chris, hearing this, feels horrible and tells Lara not to say that. Chris apologizes to Lara for how he's been acting towards her and confesses that she's the most beautiful girl he's ever seen in his life.

He goes on by saying that no human woman could ever come close to you and that her scar just makes her more beautiful to him and that if Damian and his friends couldn't see that, they could go fuck themselves. Lara, hearing this, was beyond flustered and flattered by Chris' words but also confused as to why he was mad at her. After much thinking, she realizes that it was the kiss with Amber and that the he was blushing at her is because he likes her. She felt guilty for never noticing him showing interest in her but that guilt turned in to pure excitement as she finally realizes he 'likes' her. Lara, seeing Chris trying to leave because of the silence between them, pulls him into a kiss.

Eventually, they were getting aroused and seemed they were going to make love but they heard their friends coming in so they separated quickly and went to their respective bedrooms, much to Adder's suspicion and anger.

After everything they've been through, they're finally together but how long long will it be until Amber finds out or worse, they find out Chris was a Cerberus soldier. All the questions will be answered on A Man in a Beasts World.
