Suines are members of the suborder Suina, consisting of non-ruminant even-toed ungulates (artiodactyls) which includes the suidae (pig) and tayassuidae (peccary) families. Of all members of the order Artiodactyla, they most resemble their ancestral form. While known for being unspecialized omnivores, several species are more selective and purely herbivorous.
