Topic: Post deleted for non flagged reason

Posted under General

I submitted a post https://e621.net/post/show/777261 which was incorrectly flagged for deletion when somebody reported it for incase being DNP, which they aren't. It was then deleted for a reason I've been previously told is up to a moderator, and it wasn't even deleted for the original reason. This would be fine on me but it feels as though somebody who didn't want to use their blacklist erroneously got their wish to have a post deleted altogether which might have been allowed as non-furry content has been in the past. Is this how the rules work? I don't mean to complain, I just want mod clarification.

the deletion reason has nothing to do with the flag. moderators are required to clarify why they deleted the image and this specific mod deleted it for being irrelevant.

So it doesn't matter why the post was flagged? It feels like that means that anybody can have a post that they don't want on the site deleted simply by bringing it attention from a mod if it meets that criteria, even though posts sometimes fail that criteria and stay on the site anyway.

The flag is actually invalid, but it would have been deleted anyways once a moderator saw it. All posts are approved manually, so it was only a matter of time before a moderator deleted it. Flagging posts for invalid reasons is against the CoC to prevent this kind of thing; you can technically get banned for it if done excessively but I don't think I've ever seen that happen (most will flag once or twice, but that's about it).

Old posts aren't deleted once they are approved (except DNP stuff), even with a change in rules. The no human-only rule was clarified last year to get everyone up to speed but non-furry stuff has always been subject for deletion.

Thanks for the clarification! :]
