Topic: Gendered species

Posted under General

Are there any combination of tags that'd get me only male pokemon and human/anthro females? pokephilia male/female turns up a lot of human/anthro males and female pokemon, and that's all well and good, but sometimes it's just not what I'm looking for.

If not, does anyone have a clever tag to make something like this easier?

You could tack on male_on_feral to narrow it down further toward what you're describing

Perfect. How'd it take me this long to figure this out? Thanks a bunch!

I know you've already found what you were looking for, but I wanted to discuss the broader topic of gendering all species.

This is something that's been discussed before - not necessarily on the forums, but I vaguely remember it being discussed through our IRC.

I personally think gender should be a metatag, meaning it would have its own color, like artist, copyright and character tags.

The issue is the sheer amount of work that would be involved in accurately splitting gender/species on EVERY POST EVER, then maintaining that accuracy. Keep in mind it wouldn't just be one or two species tags per post - with implications (such as cat -> feline, mammal), the count of species tags per post can easily exceed 5.

We include nonbinary genders as well, don't forget.

Don't get me wrong - I like the idea of searching species by specific gender, but it just isn't going to happen in the near future.

Another more general way to accomplish this is to make tags character-specific, so that each character in a post gets a group of tags like nude male anthro husky. This would increase search specificity but it would take forever to tag, and the infrastructure isn't there either.

Yeah, thinking about having to tag like that is giving me a migraine.

I was half-hoping the topic would come up, since it'd be so useful and I was wondering if it'd been brought up. But yeah, like everyone's said I guess'd be too huge a task.
