Topic: Does a character need to fit any critera - notability, number of pieces uploaded - before a character tag can be started / added?

Posted under General

Hey there. My pfp is a commission of one of my characters, I have it and a child post uploaded. I was thinking of adding a couple more related ones featuring her this weekend.

After uploading, I was thinking of adding a character tag to them all. I'd like to know if that's okay, creating a character tag for something that would only have 4 images (3 if you discount child-parent links), or if it's not okay because she's not notable, it'd just be a way of getting all images of her together.

So am I in the clear, or do some milestones have to be fulfilled before a character tag gets the green light?

As an aside, when a character has a two-word name, presumably it's done as (firstname_lastname), right? Or do I have to include 'character' somewhere in there to denote it as a character tag?

Is the character nameable? If so, you can make a character tag. Furthermore, if your character and you as an artist share the same name (or copyright, species, general tag, or another character's name), you'll need to use a suffix to differ between the two. *character name*_(character) or *character name*_(*character owner's name*) (asterisks denote the literal name, not the written words) are the two to do. If the character does not share an artist, species, etc., then just use character:*character name* .

If you want, I can do it for you.

Thank you; I had a look and I'm quite sure I can manage it alone. I'm not the artist so it'd be a tag all of its own.

As far as I can tell, it's as simple as 'character:(name)', right? And do I have to do the 'character:' bit every time, or is there auto-aliasing? For example, tagging 'merunyaa' automatically picks it up as an artist, same with 'Guild Wars' and copyright.

You are correct, it is a once and done.

There's no "aliasing." The tag is exactly what you entered: "Merunyaa" is still "Merunyaa." It's a typing, which stays until somebody changes it.
