Hey uploaders of e621, a troll recently vandalized a lot of pools and renamed them "nigger" followed by what I assumed to be the pool's number.

I have a few pools under my submissions which also got vandalised. What should I do about it?

Check the history of the edits and gather information to make a proper report to the admins. A list of the maintainers can be found here:

How? The edits don't show in the tag history.

User has been banned. We are working on restoring pool names and adding methods to prevent such actions in the future.

Wow they hit a lot of pools. Fixing it should be relatively easy using the Revert function but it will have to be automated. Users should probably leave it alone until the mods get that solution working.

Unfortunately, revert doesn't do this. It will in a future, non-emergency update.
Until then, we will have to wait until Kira gets on to poke the database a little bit to copy/pasta the pool names from a old version into the live version.

I don't know why someone would go to the trouble of getting blocked just to do this. It's a nuisance for everyone else, and isn't even funny in the slightest.

He made his account today... thought there was a 2 week grace period before accounts could do such things. :/

Dude found a loophole. We'll most likely fix that in the next update.

Already wrote the code and it is sitting in pull requests, all Kira has to do is approve it and merge with base. :D
Considering situations like this in the past have caused emergency updates, it'll likely happen within the next 24 hours.

Good stuff. Funny enough, it's 3am for me right now and I was falling asleep but something told me that I had to check e6. It's like I had a 6th sense, or in this case, a e6th sense :V

Would you like users to begin reverting pools they remember manually? Will it make your work go any faster?

Did the guy rename everything manually and individually and if so how did no one catch up to it?

https://e621.net/user/show/297077 has just a single edit, but the account was made today and that edit didn't fix the pool, might be another bot

Hey there, I'm going to be going through and restoring the pool names from a backup. It might be a little while until that happens. Sorting through backups and extracting the information from them.and seeing exactly which one is the best one to use.

yeah i tried to revert one of my pools as a test and it didnt work v.v I hope it doesn't interfere with the mass revert

I will only be reverting names and descriptions as those were what was vandalized. Post edits within pools should have no impact on this.

So THAT'S why my pool didn't have a name or description. Already changed it manually though.

All pool names and descriptions have been restored to the state they were in a few hours before the vandalism occurred.

I'm sorry it took as long as it did. I woke up an hour before I had to leave, and only had time to rename the pools to something more appropriate before I left. Otherwise it would have been done about four hours earlier. x.x

The bigger shame on me is that there are still 50 pages of pools without names and descriptions. ???? What is even going onnnn.

And fixed. Embarrassingly enough, I managed to copy the wrong backup file and accidentally restored a copy from February. Now it is properly restored to the one only a few hours before the vandalism.
