Topic: What are these blips on my userpage?

Posted under General

[EDIT: One of you foolish mortals has changed my post title... I shal have my revenge]

On my user page.

There is a little thingy, like a comment. On the profile.

I'm sure that all this makes me look like a wishy-washy douchecanoe who lacks conviction. I just fell into some bad habits because I was (am) lonely, and now I'm trying to get out of them, so forgive me if I say I'm doing one thing and do another.

It was made a year ago. It's not about me, and the only thing it has related to me is "wishy-washy"

This profile was made just a few weeks ago, why is this thingy appearing on the profile hub page and what is it?

That's a blip. If a blip contains your name in it, in this case wishy-washy counts as wishy washy, it shows up on your account. That's the problem with choosing a username that's a common phrase.

That said, you can ask for your name to be changed over here ... If you go for something like WishyWashy, you're unlikely to be "accidentally" blipped again :)

(Sadly, my name is part of another user's name, so I occasionally get a reference to him and his comments. *sigh*

Sometimes I think about changing my name, but I've been me for the last 8 years! What would I even change it to? :)

I don't see this "other user" in the blips. I think they must have changed.
If you ever do feel the need to change, SnowWolf2010 or OG SnowWolf could work :P

Mashing your name together like SnowWolf said is a pretty good idea when you have two common words or a short phrase as a name. In my case "another day" is a phrase that is pretty commonly used. "Just another day," "I have another day to go," "I'll do it another day," "We'll have to try for another day," etc. But because my name's all one word no one ever says things like "It's just anotherday" without referring to me because everyone knows they're two separate words and, in such, I never get blipped unintentionally.

Nobody ever missed the spacebar?

I've seen blips many times before but never got around to learning them. Never knew they directly referenced a persons name without having to tag them intentionally.

Yep, it's the same with comments on images or forum topics. The @ just makes it easier to see.

I feel like this was a good decision in my case.

Not a good thread title.

Well, OP was talking about blips so I said blips rather than bring comments into it ;) If I search for myself in comments, I get occasional replies to this other guy--he was pretty active a while ago, but has been pretty quiet over the last few months.

Thanks for the suggestions XD It'd feel weird to do that though. It's so much... me, y'know? As small of a change as it is...

well, SnowWolf is so damn generic as it is, adding or changing it even a little makes to seem like someone else's name.

Well in my defense. I can't say "what is this comment?" Because then it looks like me complaining about comments on a post.

Nah, while the title itself may not make a lot of sense it wouldn't be clickbait anymore, and anybody complaing that they didn't understand it can only blame themselves for not reading.

Stop spamming this in basically every thread. Literally nobody cares.

>Obligatory ( OwO) comment

So yeah, I too freaked a bit when seeing a blip on my profile, but then it took me like couple of minutes to figure out the situation.

Sometimes you just got to slow down and look the things from a different angle

Not so far. ;)

Really privilaged behaviour.

People throw that term around and I really don't think it means what most think it means. Regardless, it's more "not knowing that the joke was never funny in the first place" than anything like that.

mmm. I think the Privileged comment is based on the fact that Munkelzahn is the "Privileged" rank.
