So there's a rule that isn't documented anywhere on the site, possibly due to the fact that it's common sense.

This is nice and all, but you didn't mention the rule so obscure... you're just telling people to not link to something specific. If my understanding of WAREZ is correct, then there probably is a well-written rule on it or similar.

Not only pirated content but there is also a risk of inadvertently giving someone a nice little virus, ransomware and the like.
