So my name currently says "Fboi" but I recently changed my gender identity. Is that a valid reason to change my name?

You do not need a reason to change your username. You can request a name change any time by going to https://e621.net/static/more and clicking "Request username change" under "Users".
Please note, that when you change your name, you are giving up your previous name. Anyone can take it after you change it.

You don't need to ask for permission or justify your decision (unless you want to). The "request" part of the "request username change" page is more of a formality and it doesn't ask for a reason.

Socially, people are known to change their legal name before or after a sex change surgery, so it's not inappropriate to change usernames (i.e., a projected identity) if you feel your current usernames no longer reflect you (i.e., a self-examined identity). A skeptic would hope you're committed to your new identity, though.

I'm not under going any surgical procedures. Most trans people don't.
