Topic: Would this be considered spam?

Posted under General

Posting a story that's thousands of letters in a comment, although it would be extremely relevant to the post?

Updated by Ratte

Use the sections feature for long texts so that it can be collapsed/hidden for those who aren't interested.

[section] <story here> [/section]

If the story is written for the post, you can put it in the description with the story_in_description tag.

No, its technically unrelated in the sense of it has nothing to do with the artist, but the subject of the story is so similar to the comments it hurts.

One message no matter how long can not be considered spam.
Spam by definition implies repeated action.

So, are you sure I would get no punishment for doing so?

If you feel that it's an absolute must to post it, then go for it. As long as it doesn't break any of the site rules, you should be fine.

Do take note though that copypasta can be considered as Spamming (if you plan to do that).

You might annoy people who don't like scrolling through text walls, but no punishment.

No, just once.

Technically if the comment is clearly made on purpose to annoy, made by machine, clearly advertise, etc. it could be considered spam even if it's just one message. Even single forum post or upload is enough to get you permanently banned if it's clear that all the account will do is spam.

I mean, how many of you would take it seriously if new account with name of "mUEARa4" made forum post where to buy viagra with horrible english and questionable links?

In any case, pretty sure this isn't something that would get you banned. If it feels long, use section tag like Wolfgang instructed. If it's story, make it clear that you are posting story.

I posted the story, it got too many dislikes, I hid it.

Comment on its own doesn't give you record, its the content that does it.

Dude. There's a difference between a story about surprising your girlfriend and writing a story about something like even 99.99% of furries would find vomit-worthy.

Seriously, I'm gonna assume you copypasted a story that I've had the misfortune of reading before. If you find it hot, that's fine. that's cool. but that is NOT a fetish most people have. Even people who find giant bugs or squirmy insects hot are not going to find that story attractive. I'm pretty dang cool with most fetishes and that story made me feel nauseated.

If I had to guess, the problem wasn't so much that you shared a story, so much as you shared a story that very, VERY few would find enjoyable.

I imagine the same thing would have happened with a gore, snuff, etc story.

something like long "normal" sectioned story is okay. but something like long unsectioned super creepy extreme fetish story written in first person about chick hosting hundreds of maggots in her pussy and in depth detailed descriptions of her necrotic genitalia and maggot infested rotten meat in her pussy is creepy as hell and definitely goes way beyond the good taste.

It was very relevant to the discussion. I do regret posting it right when I did, and I deleted it shortly after. I think this is just ridiculous

Hm. My troll sense is tingling. Conveniently leaving out little details that greatly change the context of the question when asking permission to do things is a stupid, common tactic that rarely works because it's really obvious. You don't get to go "Hey, why are you mad? You said bringing cookies was fine!" when you 'forgot' to mention they'd have live maggots in them. You know damn well what people thought they were giving the green light to.

It was creepy and disgusting and should not have been posted. It's on-par with commenting a big, long story about how someone loves to fuck their dog on a drawn bestiality image. Just because it's relevant doesn't mean we need to see/read it.

I deleted it like 5 minutes after. Chances are only a couple people saw it, and I highly doubt they actually read it. A permanent record seems harsh
Edit: what really annoys me is that you get shit for 2 minutes of being an idiot yet you get nothing for spending hours contributing to the site. I’m not saying I deserve awards or shit, I don’t, but it just seems weird that those 2 minutes matter so much more.

It was enough time that it got reported and had multiple people downvote it. The record is deserved.

This is stupid. I’ve wasted my time doing good stuff for the site for around 4 hrs total and spent like 2 minutes doing stupid shit I shouldn’t have. Also, I do appreciate you guys’s work. You waste your life on this and it’s quite thankless, but don’t take your anger out on me.
Edit: I know I probably sound like I hate y’all but I really don’t. I just think this is unfair

What? It’s a story from online, I don’t have a vagina, and if I did I sure as fuck wouldn’t stuff it with maggots

I didn't say ANYTHING about the relevance to the discussion. It well may have been relevant, but that doesn't make it alright, man. Next time, you share some search terms so people can google their way there. Or even pastebin it and say "Here's a story about the thing we're talking about"

The problem is that it was a really gross post (thanks Eggplant XP). Some things we tag really carefully because people don't want to read that. I don't know what post you posted that on, but it was probably NOT equally explicit to the text you offered.

if you dont do anything like that again, you can ask the record to be removed in one year if i remember correctly (i think it was six months for changing it to neutral and an other six and it can be removed).

eh, I don't waste my life on this site. I waste it on video games.

If I stop caring about artists and characters, I can tag an upload from scratch in one minute. It took me 15-20 minutes total to source the majority of your recent uploads. Most of what I do on here (and I haven't been particularly active for the past half year) is done in 10-30 minute bursts.

I'd like to believe our most active users have reached the point that they're able to do what they do with similar efficiency. Practice makes perfect and all.

EDIT: as for the second half of that post -

Given how transparent our actions are, records issued in anger would be suicide.

Records are given because we hope users will learn from them. I personally try to make my records as clear as possible, with links to wiki guides when appropriate.

I'm not here to make friends or enemies. I just want to keep users from killing each other so I can shitpost in peace.

Please just let me shitpost

Bro, just chill out, okay? it's one negative record. It's not a big deal. You're not getting banned, you're not getting removed.

Just learn from it and move on: If you're unsure, ask an admin directly, or wait for an admin to answer. If it's extra extreme, err on the side of caution. Stuff is going to get downvoted if people don't like it. Even if it's good for what it is. People don't like some things. Just let it go.

It isn't worth getting upset about. we all make mistakes.

Updated by anonymous

there it is. records are not permanent. as long as you behave from now on, you can request an admin to change the record into neutral record in 6 months from the day you got the record and you can request it to be removed completely in 12 months from the day you got the record .

Everyone does not hate you, they are just easily amused.

The record will be expunged eventually.

Updated by anonymous

I generally don't bother with comments or forget to include them. I'm pretty sure they're not that important, especially if it goes into that much detail. I wouldn't have worried about it. Folks who were interested could've checked the source and read it there.

I don't like him. But I don't hate him either.

Now this does bring up a small question- If an image's official artist's description is kinda nasty I assume there'd be some exemptions for posting it in the image description or comments? It seems common sense that official artist comments/story-in-description type stuff would be considered different than fanfic or copypasta stories, and I haven't seen anyone get slapped for uploading images that are come with graphic, uh, lore, but figured it wouldn't hurt to get an official word.
