Topic: Transfer of post ownership

Posted under General

A user has contacted me saying they don't wish to use the site any more, but since most of what they've uploaded has my character in it, they want to alter the uploads so that they have me as the uploader, meaning they'd become my responsibility.

Is such a thing possible?

No. And once uploaded it's no ones responsibility in particular.

Posted files hash is attached to post ID and post ID is attached to user who uploaded it. Once that file has been uploaded, it prevents anyone else from uploading it.

The user who uploads content does not own it and I'm patiently waiting for the day when everyone realizes this. If they upload content which they don't have any relations and want to get it deleted, they literally cannot, they have as much ownership over the post as any other user on this site. Because there are users who have suddenly become aware of thing they attach themselves into, but fail to realize the purpose of the website.

We did change the username history to be hidden in users profiles, so if user in question simply wants to cut ties to their uploads, simply change the username, nuke the information and change password to something random and leave.

Even first party (artist, character owner, commissioner,etc.etc.) has same amount of ownership as any other random user here. Only difference is that first party can use our takedown tool even without having account here to not have their content here. However that can only get rid of content here and future iterations of it and if one filing takedown wants the content back we restore earlier content by first user uploading it instead of accepting it again as new upload.

Only legit workaround would be for first party to upload superior copy of that exsisting post. At this point the earlier post is deleted as inferior version in normal manner and favorites transfer to the new upload.

You say that, but isn't there that guy with the jet the hawk commissions that gets pissy and takedowns any posts that are images that he commissioned and then reups them himself in identical quality?

You can supply the ID of those posts to staff or simply flag the post as previously deleted and put up parent ID to deleted post. It is uploading abuse to knowingly post deleted content onto the site.

As far as I know all the posts the dude has taken down hasn't been reuploaded afterwards.

Oh, I guess I just assumed that he re-uploaded them. I only saw the stuff after they got deleted so I couldn't tell what the images actually were. It never occurred to me that a person would just purge an image from the site in a rage of "If I can't have it than no one can"
