Topic: Typos in original description

Posted under General

This might be a bit of a stupid question.

Let’s say I find an image on Inkbunny, upload it here and copy paste the image description from Inkbunny into the upload here, and i find a typo in the original description found with the image on Inkbunny.

Do I fix the typo so it might be easier to understand, or do I keep the original one with the typos?

And apologies for the English, it isn’t my first language. I’ll be happy to try and rephrase it, if it sounds like gibberish.

There's no set rules with descriptions and majority will leave the field empty when uploading here. It can contain almost anything as long as it's not breaking any regular rules.

So technically either way is fine. I have also started to state that the description is copied from the source as even now there are cases where users think that uploader made the description.

I've fixed typos in descriptions before, as well as typos in notes and et cetera. It should be OK, if the artist has a problem with it they can undo it themselves. Just don't alter the text dramatically, IE changing gendered terms to fit the site. The same goes for editing other proper texts, you usually want to avoid drastic changes without consulting a staff member.

Descriptions on here don't have to be from the artist at all, there are some that are just some dude's two cents on it, explaining where the uploader found it, or occasionally fanfic.

Fixing a typo or not is 100% up to you. Do you want to spend time correcting it? Do you feel confident in your own grammar and spelling as well as confident that you can recognize stylistic misspellings? That's all you need to ask yourself.
