Since Living_machines, Living_aircraft, etc have become common place, I was thinking maybe it's time to include tags for what they are, like naming the Blackbird SR-71, or Ren's Nika Aero Su-57 and/or T-50.

This would massive help people both with finding and avoiding these aircraft as some people don't like certain aircraft.

The same would go for land and sea vehicles, like Ratbat's drawing of the Bismarck battleship and Leopard tank.

Here'the thing, I, and I'm betting most others, don't actually know the difference. I don't tag Aero SU-57 because I can't distinguish it from T-50. They're both aircraft to me. Then again those who upload the living aircraft stuff might see the difference and be able to tag it, in which case it's a fair request. Just remember that it's not exactly common knowledge.

I know a lot of people aren't war vehicle savy, but there's a big portion of people that are.

We're not even supposed to tag car models, and I think military vehicles are more niche than that. When the inevitable tag wars occur (which will, considering what happened with the weapon tags), how would the admins be able to resolve the situation? As far as I know, there's no military experts on the staff.

Everyone knows that the SU-57 has bigger tits.

I could see maybe--MAYBE-- offering some divisions based on, say, commercial-bulk passenger air craft versus military craft versus privately owned craft... but not any more than that.

Frankly, considering we go out of our way to make sure that animals get tagged properly I don't find this to be all that much of an issue. I'd say we let the people that know how to do it... ya know.. do it.

Heavens know I'm no zoologist so, for example, CCoyote's current avatar, to me, could be a fox, it could be a wolf, it could be really all sorts of canine, yet it's a coyote. Someone knows that and is able to recognize that.

It goes the same for the "red pandas" that are purple and could just as easily be a raccoon to me. When the markings and colorings are off some people know enough about certain things to tag them correctly. If it's a *living aircraft* then I say we let those who know what it is tag it, if it's *just* an aircraft then we don't bother or maybe we should considering we get things like plush toys being tagged with the correct species, too. I don't know.

Eh, regardless. The point I'm trying to make is that tagging these aircraft, at the very least the living ones, makes just as much sense as tagging the various specific animal species.

If someone knows what aircraft it is by all means tag it. Just keep it general enough that it can be used more than once, and don't make it too specific. So, if something is an A-10 tag it as such, don't specify A-10_(us_army) or something like that.

The real problem with guns was mainly that people were arguing the exact make and model with all its accessories and then wanted to tag things based off of that. That level of pedantic tagging helps nobody.

Is anyone even considering whether this applies to normal pictures with aircraft? It seems strange to only apply this to one or the other considering that there's a tag to distinguish the two thankfully

I did just mean general tags, and not specifics. Like F-15 would just be F-15, not F-15A, F-15C, F-14F so on. The problem is what collumn should the tags go in. Species? General?

So if you see a Boeing 747, tag, Boeing_747, but without the -100, -200, -8, -full, etc

I vote general, because... they aren't really species, especially if this applies to normal ones. People will still find what they're looking for either way

True, true. And you could just combine tags to find a living F-15. Ooo... one problem, all letters should be capital. F-15, A-10, B-2, SR-71, etc. I can see people putting lowercases... though, now that I think about it, I dont think I've ever seen capitalized letters in tags except for maybe names and copyright.

Edit: just checked there is no capital letters in tags, so nvm.
