Agreed. There are also several other digimon species that have this "labeled as character rather than species" problem

By all means, feel free to list 'em all.

Done. For future reference, you can use artist:, character:, species:, copyright:, or general: as prefixes when adding/editing tags to change them into the appropriate category. You don't need to do this more than once, though; subsequent uses automagically allot them to the category previously specified. This only works when there is less than 100 posts under the tag name.

Oh apologies, I would have done this myself but I assumed this thread being created meant the tag was over 100 posts and was unable to be changed without proper permissions. My bad

Thanks. Also the tag I mentioned was over 100 posts, so it wouldn't let me do the process above.

That's... odd. I did it when it appeared to be 92 posts, was someone changing them prior?

Not sure myself. Maybe they were unaware that this was a species before for a reason.

Only by a staff member at this point.

If it were just a few posts lower, I'd consider untagging it from deleted posts until it's under 100, changing the type, then replacing the tags. But with 120+, probably best to wait for a mod+ to do it.
