If you can't find it as a search result then how are you here?

maybe he used bing(tm)

Maybe I already had it bookmarked? Weird, Then, Because I don't use safesearch and when I was on other machines I often just lazily googled it.

Still the top search for the search engine I use.
This is one of the reasons I find search tracking and personalization to be more trouble than it's worth. Why is e621 not showing for you? Perhaps the inscrutable google machine has decided in its cryptic wisdom that you're not a furry and shouldn't be shown furry results.
It ought to still be the top search for you here, though. It is for me, and the results aren't personalized.
I always sound like an ad for DDG when talking about search engines.

...Why would you have to google it? It's literally just e621.net.

Do people not just type the first letter of a URL and then just hit enter assuming it'll probably autocomplete to the website you want?

No, I just use google. Its a force of habit.

I'm not sure what browser allows such a silly thing, on mine you have to hit down between those two steps. That way you don't get forced to another url you've visited when you actually wanted exactly what you typed in.

I don't know what browser doesn't do that. It's been a standard feature since I was in college years ago. You type in the first letter and it suggests the most commonly visited site with that letter, you can then choose to hit enter or continue typing and the suggestion will just go away if it doesn't know what you're trying for or it'll go to something else. Like if you type in "f" it might suggest "furaffinity" if you visit that super often, but if you type in "fa" it'll suggest, say, "facebook," for example, if you go there frequently. But if you type in "far" and it doesn't have a site like that in its history it'll just stop suggesting things all together.
Of course, if you clear your history often I suppose it wouldn't work for you too well because, afaik, it goes off of what's in your history. I haven't cleared my history in well over a decade and have transferred it from computer to computer as I've upgraded. It's been extremely convenient over the years.

In firefox at least, it depends on whether the string contains a word separator (eg space).
For example, type 'e' and hit Enter == goto e621.net
But type 'e ' and hit Enter == search for 'e ' in default search engine.
Type 'e fo', Enter == search for 'e fo' in default search engine.
Type 'e fo', Down arrow, Enter == goto e621.net/forum ('fo e' also produces the same result, ie.fragments don't have to be in any particular order)

I switched to DDG when Google's image searched removed their "View Image" feature. I know that you could also get the hi-res version of it on Google by waiting and right clicking, but my muscle memory and my patience level isn't up for that.

I know this adds nothing to the question, but Clickbait Title?
E621 shows up for me at the top of Google, Yandex and DuckDuckgo. If your results vary, it may be due to the magical Google SEO algorithm hiding it from you, or some extension or program (for example, parental controls) on your computer/browser that may be hiding it from you.
