Topic: My thoughts on e6

Hi, e621 community.

I'm Ashnu, hobbyist artist and character owner. I used e6 for a short time and stumbled across multiple issues with e6 which stopped me from using e6.

1. TWYS rule: My main character is a cuntboy (mostly), sometimes art of my character got uploaded here and tagged with the wrong gender according to my lore. It's frustrating for me, I switched from uploading art with my character to requesting takedown on every single piece of art with my character. It's a shame, but I don't have other options here. I'd prefer to not have to request takedowns.

2. Mirror sites: there are some sites which directly import from e6 over a bot.

3. Do not post disclaimer: I include a 'do not post on e6' disclaimer at my submissions and ask artist to include it in their submissions too. It got widely ignored here.

4. Missing youth protection: there is no age verification, everyone can see mature and adult art here.

5. Do not post list: I requested multiple times to get myself to the dnp list. Every time my request got revoked with the comment that I'm not skilled and relevant enough to be on it.

Based on this, I thought about suggestions to improve the situation. I think it's a good idea to discuss it, civilized, as e6 is community driven.

1. Giving artists and characters owners more rights to tag their art on e6 according to their lore. This breaks the TWYS rule and maybe there will be a strange combination of female tag and a sex that doesn't match, but it's artistic freedom.

2. Limit bot activity of mirror sites on e6.

3. Read and follow the rules artist and character owners define in disclaimers. No to e6 means no upload and should be removed from e6 by the team before approvement. No need for the artist and character owner to request a takedown. Takedowns should be the last option to take, not the default one.

4. Implement a nag screen, saying 'go away if you're under 18 years old' with to have to tick a mark 'I'm 18 or older' and accept.

5. Clarify which are the relevance needs to get on the dnp list in the wiki.

What do you guys think about my suggestions?

Removing the TWYS rules would be changing what e6 is from the core. If you want a site where you can upload and do what you want, there are plenty of options out there

Tag What You See is so that the viewer can find stuff. If you don't like it, then you avoid posting those characters here.

If you feel like this is happening, I think you can request being shadowed from search engines, so that only in-site searches work.

3. Do not post disclaimer: I include a 'do not post on e6' disclaimer at my submissions and ask artist to include it in their submissions too. It got widely ignored here.

Instead, request Avoid Posting status or Conditional DNP from the takedown request page

It's impossible to have perfect youth protection anywhere. If you want to send people to a family friendly version of the site (please note, do not send children to any version whatsoever!), the url is https://e926.net.

5. Do not post list: I requested multiple times to get myself to the dnp list. Every time my request got revoked with the comment that I'm not skilled and relevant enough to be on it.

What are you talking about? That's not a thing you get told at all. Any artist can request DNP for quicker image removals. Characters cannot get DNP, though.

No. Use the description field if you want to have a list of "tags" that mark what it is, for example a post of two male characters, "Lore tags (NOT TWYS): male/male"

2. Limit bot activity of mirror sites on e6.

See recommendation above.

3. Read and follow the rules artist and character owners define in disclaimers. No to e6 means no upload and should be removed from e6 by the team before approvement. No need for the artist and character owner to request a takedown. Takedowns should be the last option to take, not the default one.

Artists already can get DNP status. For commissioners and character owners, nope. Submit takedowns is default and will remain that.

4. Implement a nag screen, saying 'go away if you're under 18 years old' with to have to tick a mark 'I'm 18 or older' and accept.

And pester people browsing in incognito or who cannot keep cookies? I'd rather not.

5. Clarify which are the relevance needs to get on the dnp list in the wiki.

It already is clear:

Get DNP says:

4. Getting added to the DNP List
