Topic: Retracting a neagative

Posted under General

So I got a negative over my last post. At this point I guess I can suspended any day now for misunderstanding when I'm not even trying to break the rules. I understand payed content is DNP. I understand stood that over the Eric comic issues, but my last post with Cream, Rouge and Amy in it, I didnt even know that was a picture that was a picture from a pateon. I just found it on another site. I made a mistake and would have flagged the post my self instead of someone telling one me.
Also yea I do have two other removal recently that were DNP, but those were from Jab which I'm pretty sure was ok at one point.

to avoid things like this, post only from artist's own free galleries. posting from sites that allow piracy, and posting from third party sites in general is highly unrecommended since its hard to tell if its pay content or not, and the content hosted in those sites tend to be inferior quality from what you can find from artist's official galleries.

you can blame only yourself for this since you had full power in your hands to check if the post was available in artist's free galleries.

I saw that response coming. Yep mistakes dont happen, it's all your fault sir, dont even try to explain your mistake. Now take your minus and have a nice day. Perfectly fine. I'm a throw away account and hundreds more will take my place.

Jeez dude, chill out.
You don't get banned over a single red record, unless you're totally off the rails.

Just do due diligence next time.

i did not say that it was not a mistake. it was a mistake, but still a mistake that you could have prevented. you still get consequences for spreading pirated content just like everyone else regardless wether it was on purpose or not.

the records are there for you to learn from your mistakes, so this is good place for you to learn to be more careful and double check the stuff you are uploading. also the records are not even permanent.. so

I guess that came out louder to others than it did me.
It might not mean anything to you but it makes feel like a A-hole and feel horrible. At this point, I'm just gonna quit looking for pictures and find my strengths else where.

It's best to avoid uploading stuff directly from other boorus and similar user uploaded image sharing sites in general.
Unless the artist themselves uploaded that image to the site, there's always a chance it's paysite content.

I once had a negative.
The negative decayed into neutral, which decayed into nothing.
But the scars on my soul remain.

Op I've had multiple neutrals and a negative, now it's decayed into a single neutral

I understand the anxiety abt it (believe me... I felt it) but it'll eventually fade. You just live and learn. Maybe focus these feelings onto something else to let out some steam

It's only a mistake and those happen and it's honestly not a big deal.

Mistakes happen, you are absolutely right. The thing is, while most people are well meaning and well intentioned, some people are just assholes.

There are absolutly some people out there who thing that DNP is a bad concept and that they should be able to upload whatever they want. There are people out there that specifically try to get around this stuff by not tagging an artist name, or resizing images to upload already deleted files.

Some people really don't like the rules and feel that they shouldn't apply to them.

ANd those are the kind of jerks that ruin it for everyone else. If everyone agreed and respected the idea of a DNP, then we could say "Oh, we understand, no biggie." and let it go by without a remark.... but they don't and we can't.

And then there's the other elephant: Favoritism. That's why, near as I can tell, teh administration tries to apply the same set of rules to everyone: first time's a warning, second one is a negative. and I"m not sure when you move on from there, but I"m pretty sure you can one or two short term bans before you finally get the big "Good bye forever"

And some people DO that, y'know? They don't feels the rules should apply to them and keep repeating the same behavior that gets them banned.

It's not anything personal against you. we want you to post! we just have a few rules about what's okay to post and one of those is that we gotta respect DNP and paysite rules.

I've been around here for a *long* time, and 5 or 6 years ago, we had a pretty bad reputation because the original site founders basically didn't care about artists or their ability to make a living and would laugh at anyone who asked for their artwork to be removed. The staff has worked exceedingly hard since then to be as fair as possible to artists, which is something a lot of image boards... don't.

The best thing to do would be to ask the artist first before posting. The worst they that they can do is decline. Or they later change their mind and ask to have the post taken down. No negative rating will be given for that.

As for DNP content, just don't bother with it. This saves a lot of trouble and headache later on. Bottom line, if you don't have a direct source for it, don't post it.
