I mean, I like inflation, but being a pooltoy seems a bit strange.

Nobody can explain their fetishes to you.

Unless you're in a Hollywood movie where everything is caused by traumatic childhood incidents that only a shrink (who is probably dead but doesn't know it yet) can help you remember.
Something like:
The parent whose sex the child feels attracted to (remember, this attraction is genetic) drowned in a tragic pool accident, while the child watched helplessly. In the child's mind, guilt + sexual attraction formed the belief "If only I'd been a pool toy, I could've saved my parent from drowning!"

This summer, watch as a teenage kid who identifies his body type as a pool toy tries to find love before the high school prom. Critics give it a 3 out of 5, and websites exclaim "what was even the point of this". Catch the Poolboy at a theater near you!

Not sure, but it probably has to do with them being made of latex. And perhaps that they often have only a bulge for genitals and can't cum.

It's not necessarily a transformation thing.

My entire time here and there are still fetishes I've never heard of before, I'm rather surprised really.

Have you seen the one where characters are made of goo that melts and stinks?
I'm not sure why, but the stinking is a vital part of it.

Meltez plastic, rather than generic goo.

I actually have and I've heard it mentioned before too, I can't be bothered to use my blacklist so I've seen a lot of the nonsense this sight has to offer, so yeah pretty surprised.

For me it's definitely a transformation thing. It's like taking it further down the humiliation/dehumanization path.
Human -> just an animal -> just a toy
Also latex has some strange sexual symbolism that comes with it. It's a cliche "fetish" subject matter, so it feels like it's easier for my brain to incorporate it into my TF fetish. Those are the reasons I'm consciously aware of, at any rate. There's probably a whole lot more going on subconsciously.
