Topic: Feral or anthro ? (Your preference)

Posted under General

Here, I'm doing a survey to get an idea of the most loved body type on e621, between anthropomorphic morphology and "feral" morphology.

Personally at the beginning, I liked only the anthro. But for a few years now, I prefer the ferals, and with an animal vagina. I mainly think of mustelids, equines and canines. I appreciate it, but only when the face remains partially anthro, so with human facial expressions.

What are your preferences?

For the most part I vastly prefer anthro.

The few cases where I like feral morphology tend to be where the creature in question is big, for lack of a better unifying theme. E.g. gryphons, dragons, dire wolves, etc.
I agree on the facial expression part, but the eyes make the biggest difference. Something about them being the window to the soul and all.

Animal dongs are neat but I don't like fortune cookies. Go figure!

In short: feral > anthro, feral genitals > human genitals, and I avoid things with boobies.

I have a preference for pokemon- or digimon-like ferals. These are characters that are fairly animal-like and generally shorter than humans: a "4" on the furry scale. post #1032799 These tend to be copyrighted, rather than OC's. Here's some examples of what qualifies:

examples (SFW)

Realistic ferals can be good too:

For anthros, I often like chubbier guys, but also muscular guys, or any guy that's "masculine" enough:

I have a strong preference for ferals, though anthros can be fine sometimes.

If we look at the furry scale that you see sometimes (CrocoGator linked an example of it), my preference is for things 4 or lower, with 3 as borderline. Though I feel the scale ends too early - extrapolate to a 6 (full realism) and that's still fully within my interests (though art which does that well is far more rare).

Full Feral seems like Zoophilia to me.

but this site has Loli as well so I suppose it doesn't matter.

What about the best of both worlds, the taur?

But honestly both of them are awesome for their own reasons :D

You can get real nice "slice of life" things when you use anthros, and it helps incorporate the human world we're familiar with.

With feral designs it's more focused on nature in the imagery and storytelling.

Of course there are blends of both and so many new things but those immediately come to mind!

Anthro for me. I might lean a bit towards zoologicaly accurate paws, and occasionally zoologicaly accurate genitals.

Yiff in general doesn't get my interest very much. But if we talk about sfw, feral are more appealing and more fun to draw :3.

Just don't be cliche. I could say 'feral', but what it really is is I expect less cliche from feral stuff, precisely because it's not as popular as anthro (with the obvious exception of Pokemon). Don't be the same kind of weaksauce as "kemonomimi" + "monster girls", commit fully to your concept, have decent drawing skills, and I'll probably like it.

Feral.

To be fair, though, I'm a teratophile so perhaps I just prefer the least human-like options possible.

DEFINITELY anthro. Though I do like feral on uncommon occasion.

Ironically Taurs don't really do that much for me. I can get off to them but I don't usually find myself actively seeking them out.

I find myself with a mild feral lean. Anthro is great, taurs are great, but they fall short of ferals for me.

I lean more towards realism, so feral stuff mostly but also dont mind it being cartoony either

The Feral is not zoophilia, because here the Ferals are partially anthro. It is enough for example, to look at the facial expressions, but forgetting that it is a caricatural anthropomorphism like Disney's characters (Their facial expressions are "human", it is undeniable).

Have you never seen the movie Blade Runner? The concept is somewhat the same. The question is: what is a human being?
Does humanoid appearance count as much or is it just a state of mind?

Imagine that an extraterrestrial race has the same mental capacities as humans, but that they have a body, a different form. So we would prove that being human is much more a state of mind than a physical appearance.

Sometimes you have to know how to look beyond appearances.

Anthro. Feral is nice but it's unoriginal. It's just the animal in its natural form.

Yes and no. Natural form yes, but not completely. I maintain human facial expressions, which make all the difference with a real beast. That, plus the body shapes which are sometimes relatively generous on certain representations (big butt, for example).
I maintain the very fictional aspect of most feral representations on e621.
After, Original yes it is little. That's why for my part, if I should have drawn a creature of this kind, I would have rather invented a new creature (alien).
