Topic: Tagging issues

Posted under General

I've recently made a new post, and all seemed to be going well until I checked the tags post-upload. There were new ones that did not fit the image, and tags missing that did go with said image. However when i tried to remove the new ones and add the missing, nothing changed! Any advice on why this is happening, or how to fix it?

There are tags that are implicated to others, which means that if you are finding that some tags don't fit your post that it relates to a tag that you believe does fit the image. if you click on the ? beside the tag in question that you are trying remove from the post, it will tell you about all the tags it is implicated to or that is implicate to it.

Don't worry. It's not a problem. It's how the tagging system is supposed to work.

Some tags imply others. When one of these tags is added, the site automatically adds other, related tags if not already so tagged. For example, corgi has the implication of domestic_dog. You tag a picture with corgi, and the site will add in domestic_dog for you if you hadn't already tagged it.

Other tags are aliased to others. When one of these tags is added, the site automatically turns the tag into another tag. For example, straight gets turned into male/female.

Both have their uses in making sure pictures are comprehensively tagged. Implications add in tags you might have otherwise missed while aliases keep tags efficiently organized. They're very useful for tagging, so technically, this "strange" tagging behavior is the fix.

I gotta admit, the genital_slit implying animal_genitalia is a little weird to me...

Hm.

I think the tag is used for reptilian based genitalia where there isn't a sheath for the male genital organ, or ovipositor depending on the scenario which is generally an animal or alien characteristic

While true, Animal genitalia is for "sexual organs that exclusively belong to animals (e.g. equine penises)." and is used for all sorts of... animal-specific things like canine_pussy etc. It seems like it should be for 'realistic-ish' anatomy, while a genital slit is basically... "there's a place they store their junk'

it's not.... wrong, just... makes me go mmmmmmmh a little
