Hi, I'm newish to this site and sometimes I come across questionable content. I'm trying to figure out if I should continue using this site or not because I don't want my ISP to flag me for anything. Is everything on this site totally safe and legal? I see that posts are approved by admins so I'd assume so, but I just want to be sure.

depends on laws where you live. some places allow cartoon porn depicting underaged characters, some probably dont.

When I read the second sentence, I thought you lived in Russia or Saudi Arabia.

I thought the general rule was ultimately the rules apply where the server content is actually hosted and not necessarily on the client machine?

Thank you for your responses!

Sooooooo does it depend on where the servers are hosted or on my area? Just wanna be 100% certain that I wont get into any trouble if I continue to use this site. I'm kinda overly cautious about everything lol

Hosting: Wherever the server's located.
Viewing: Wherever you're located.

Check the laws in your area.

Reading through the thread, I can tell you the following:

Content on this site may be hosted as long as it follows the laws of the United States of America, and the local laws of Phoenix, Arizona, United States of America, of which where the service is hosted and operated.

Most local laws in the United States of America share the same laws as other states, however some states may find certain content such as Bestiality and Cub art illegal, and may cover them under indecency laws.
You can find more about your Local laws at http://statelaws.findlaw.com/ [1]

If you are worried about such content appearing, you can always use the Blacklist keywords that may be considered illegal in your state or country.

If you are accessing the site trough SSL (lock and https on address bar) your ISP shouldn't know anything about what you actually do here. This is one reason why I'm confused why in furaffinity you have to manually enable this yourself. You can also use something like google DNS to let them know even less and if you want to be extra careful there are tons of VPN services available these days.

If your country has forbidden some content, it doesn't matter if website allows it, as you seeing or saving the content can in some cases be deemed illegal.

For this everyone has to be aware of their own countrys laws. This of course doesn't change sites rules or allowed material and then you can also think of propability of someone coming after your ass, as I haven't seen many getting fined or jailed for pirating content either even if it's illegal in almost everywhere.

You can't be punished if the only thing you are viewing.
It becomes punishable offense only when you download and store.

If you're really scared about certain content, you have a blacklist which will make it a lot less likely for you to see said pictures. 'Young', for example, will block all images that involve children.

Anything you view is downloaded to your computer and at least temporarily stored there. Even just having it inside your ram can be enough to get you in trouble, depending on local laws. Your browser also generally caches things between sessions, so anything you viewed is safely stored in there until the cache is cleared.

It was ruled that person is not at fault for cache.

IDK the name or when it was, I didn't read the whole thing.

Well, that's not the case in either the US or EU.

Oh okay I didn't know there was a blacklisting feature. I'll do that then just to be safe. Thank you!

Actually even if it's put there against your will and you remove it immediately, you can already be charged. And removing it because it was without your consent is considered tampering with evidence. This goes for all storage media.

Isn't the law grand?

put
young -rating:s
in your blacclist so it will hide all images of young characters unless image is rated as safe

Make sure every different thing is on its own line unless it's a group of tags.
young -rating:s
bestiality

The above for example would block all images containing young characters in a questionable or explicit setting on its own, and then additionally block any images containing bestiality, whether there's a young character or not.
