Listen guys I have nothing more than the utmost respect for the creators & moderators of this website, But I have to say, I am no fan of this new layout, Its feels too modern & I wish you all would give up options to be able to view the website the old way....

I just had to voice my opinion, I know I'm only one guy, But keep up the good work & thanks for making what is probably know as the best furry website in existence

Not sure how many more of these threads we need and not sure how many times it needs to be explained that the site is essentially brand new with current theme being what it is because that how it was and it will be worked on as it's low priority.

Until web hosts stop making updates that make their site worst to use

It's amazing how they thought launching it totally incomplete was a good idea. Isn't that what betas are for? Yknow, working on finishing something before it goes to production?

They did have the beta up, and they were testing it to make sure it was completed. Unfortunately, developers can't catch everything, and nobody pointed some issues out until after they pushed it to the normal site. Even I didn't notice some issues until it got pushed, and I was a part of the beta.

My problem not even with design, unlike most of "Material UI" web designs this one got good enough contrast.

BUT WHAT HAPPENED TO FONT SIZE?

Capital letters are 5-6 pixels, and if I try browser scaling up, the layout goes into the window. On average 2 screen that's ~2.3 mm. In edit window they are smaller, 5 pixels, everywhere else 6.

One of the rules of page layout is that lines shouldn't be longer than 80-85 characters or it's hard to read. About 210 characters fits right now at 100% scale into forum "blob".

Browser: latest Chrome.
Resolution: 1080. I can't imagine how it would look on 2k monitor, likely invisible.

That's interesting because others have been complaining it's too BIG.

Personally, I find that the font size is about the same as the sites I have in my other tabs. This is of course after resetting the zoom on all of the tabs concerned.
In my case, Firefox 73, Arch Linux x86_64, 1600x1050 (or close; I estimated from the size of a 'fullscreen' window)

Parroting the same thing over and over isn't going to fix anything or make things go faster. You are just being annoying for no reason

I just do not see what was wrong with the old website..... its was literally just fine the way it was.

There were several problems, including unpatchable security holes (some places couldn't properly prevent code injection without breaking features), stability issues (doing certain things could cause the server to halt), and performance problems (you couldn't use more than 5 or 6 search terms without the site becoming overloaded, for example). It may have looked fine on the surface, and you may not have been personally hit by the problems, but they were there and needed to be dealt with before they became major problems that would affect more and more people.

The new site is not mobile friendly, even on supposed mobile mode of it... there's a lot of "freeze ups" and the formatting is really wonky.

At the very least bring by the old "Popular" section that lists out a few dozen highest voted for the day, instead of listing EVERYTHING...

Popular is still here (and has a better implementation than before IIRC), it's just hidden in the sitemap. There have been some statements that suggest it is deprecated, so maybe it is going to be removed at some point.

Not hidden anymore. Neither in sitemap, nor on the site proper.
It is pretty badly broken on mobile, though. Currently fixing it for my redesign project.

I think, Daedius is complaining about there being too many images on the popular page.

as many as it takes for the mods to start working with the users and not against them.

repeating the same thing is the only option users have in this instance. There is/was no process having users vote on how to or when to implement the new layout. When users are essentially powerless and given no choice on site changes then the only thing they can do is verbally protest or leave.

They had a beta up that no one knew about, and proceeded to launch the site with clearly little done. I've seen it said that they intend to return the functionality of the old site, but that seems like the kinda thing that you'd get done in the beta, instead of saying "fuck it" and throwing the new design into production totally incomplete. It doesn't even have a freaking home page.

It's really funny how because someone working on the site doesn't like watersports (guess it pisses them off?) it's now a blocked tag, while far more extreme things aren't.

Every single grievance that was either useful, or I was able to "translate" into something useful, has been noted, compiled, and is waiting on being worked on. We are listening and we are working on improvements, even if we aren't giving in to demands to just relaunch the old site.
